Complete French dinnerware set by Saint-Amand et Hamage, circa 1900, made of terre de fer earthenware and decorated with delicate floral bouquets, garlands, and classically inspired ornamental motifs in sage green. Terre de fer is a fine earthenware that stood out for being whiter, more resistant, and visually closer to porcelain, and it became popular in France among the bourgeois classes during the 19th century. Saint-Amand was one of the country's leading earthenware manufacturing centers.
The dinnerware set consists of 44 pieces: 12 soup plates, 22 dinner plates, 1 sauce boat, 2 covered tureens, 1 large oval serving platter, 2 small oval serving dishes, 1 salad bowl, and 3 round serving dishes of different sizes and depths.
Some specific pieces show a certain natural darkening of the glaze associated with the passage of time.
