Imposing French Empire-era mirror, made in the early 19th century, with a stuccoed and gold-leaf wooden frame and a spectacular original mercury mirror in two parts, showing attractive natural wear after more than 200 years. Its unusual decoration also stands out, featuring plant motifs, mythological creatures, and kraters, with strong Greco-Roman inspiration.
In their time, these large mirrors were placed in main drawing rooms, foyers, or above consoles and fireplaces in aristocratic residences, where they enhanced the light and reinforced the monumentality of the space.
