French terre de fer earthenware dinnerware, decorated with cobalt blue floral motifs on an ivory background. Royat model by Sarreguemines, produced between 1900 and 1909. Includes 11 sets of soup, dinner, and dessert plates, 2 round serving dishes, and one tureen.
Terre de fer was developed in France in the mid-19th century and is a fine earthenware that is particularly strong and durable. It was one of the preferred dinnerware styles of the 19th-century French bourgeoisie, used in stately homes, country villas, bourgeois residences, and large family homes for everyday dining and formal meals.
Precautions: hand wash in warm water with mild soap using a soft sponge; avoid dishwashers, abrasive scouring pads, and sudden temperature changes. Several dessert plates have darkened glaze.
To ensure proper care, we recommend collecting the dinnerware directly from our showroom.
