Large 19th-century French display cabinet, circa 1880, originally from a shop in the Norman city of Le Havre. Its spectacular original pastel green finish has been restored after stripping away later layers of paint. The imposing blown glass and fittings are also all original. It is a statement piece for a living room, kitchen, or dining room. Despite its dimensions, its elegant proportions and shallow depth make it highly decorative as a display cabinet, pantry, or bookcase.
This type of shop display cabinet or trade furniture was traditionally used in French shops and establishments to store and display merchandise. Its glazed upper section allowed products to be displayed, while the enclosed lower section provided storage space.
The marks of time are part of its beauty.
The piece is in good condition, having elegantly withstood the passage of time. Like all antique pieces, it may show slight signs of use, patina, or small irregularities characteristic of its history—features that enhance its authenticity and make it a unique object.
Dimensions: 250.5 cm high x 169 cm wide x 35.4 cm maximum depth, corresponding to the frieze separating the upper and lower sections. Both sections are approximately 30 cm deep.
